3 Misconceptions About Plumbers

Here at Sun Plumbing, we’ve been serving the people of Brevard County since 1974, attending to both residential and commercial plumbing needs. Over the years we’ve heard tons of misconceptions people have about plumbers, some of them are actually quite funny! This week we thought it might be fun to go over some of the most common ones we’ve heard and explain our take on them.

Plumbers are Sloppy

We’ve all heard the term “plumber’s crack,” and although it’s hard to pinpoint where the term originated, it’s stuck around! Plumbers are made out to be dirty, perhaps coming straight from pumping a septic system to your front door to fix your sink! Well, although we do find this humorous, that sure isn’t the case! At Sun Plumbing we’re fastidious about who we hire and how they represent our company. We will never send Joe Shmo with the perpetual plumber’s crack to your home. Our service technicians will arrive squeaky clean and in uniform. We require everyone we hire to pass a background check and drug screening. Our team truly is the cream of the crop, and we’re proud of that!

Hiring a Plumber is Expensive

Now, this one will depend on the job required and the plumber you hire. Some plumbing companies or one-man shows might give you a quote without performing an inspection and then charge you more than they originally said because X needed to be fixed or X took more time than allotted for. That won’t happen with Sun Plumbing. Our experienced plumbers will come to your home or business to perform a thorough assessment to determine what needs to be done to correct the problem and then give you an estimate. No surprise costs, no “still waiting for a part,” no gimmicks. We pride ourselves on honesty, integrity, and providing our customers with great, cost-effective work. That’s why we won the 2016 Angies’s List Super Service Award!

You’ll Save Money by Doing Plumbing Repairs Yourself

Well, for easy tasks like unclogging the shower drain, this might be true. We’ve even gone over ways to do some DIY plumbing repairs in our blogs because we don’t want you to spend more money than necessary by calling a plumber if you can fix the issue yourself! However, for more complicated plumbing issues, you may be doing more harm than good if you attempt to do the job yourself. In fact, if you bungle certain plumbing installations or repairs, you could be in major financial trouble which could have been avoided if you hired an experienced professional! If you’re not sure what the issue is, or if the job will require anything you’re not comfortable handling yourself, please give us a call instead of attempting it yourself.

While these misconceptions still exist, we hope that we were able to shed some light on what’s true and what’s not. If you need a plumber near you, whether you’re in the Melbourne, Viera, or Palm Bay areas or are anywhere in Brevard County, contact Sun Plumbing today for an educated assessment and quote.
