Rheem is our standard, but we handle many other major brands.
What is the warranty on my new water heater?
Manufacturer offers 6 years on the tank and 6 years on the electrical components (elements & thermostats). We offer a 1 year, all items covered at no charge for our installation. If your water heater has to be replaced within the 6 year warranty,the manufacturer covers only the water heater on residential units. You will only be responsible for paying the labor and miscellaneous materials needed to change it out.
Is an extended warranty available for my new heater?
Yes, only at the time of new installation. For $218.00 you can extend the factory warranty for up to 10 years.
Are Rheem water heaters energy efficient?
Yes, our water heaters provide higher performance and lower operating costs.
Will Sun Plumbing remove & dispose of the old water heater?
Yes, we do this at no additional cost.
Can I change my electric water heater to gas?
Yes, if gas is available in your area. Call Florida City Gas at 1-800-993-7546 to find out availability.
Do I need an expansion tank?
Not in all cases but some municipalities require them.
Do I need a permit to replace my water heater?
Some municipalities require a permit and bringing your water heater up to current code is a requirement. Owners are responsible for obtaining permits and calling for inspections. We will assist you in what steps to take for your permitting requirements. Approximate cost for permits is $30.00, but varies by city.
Can I change my solar heater to an electric heater?
Yes, but you may need to hire an electrician to rewire your new heater after it has been installed.
Can I change my tank type water heater to a tankless heater?
Yes. If gas, we may be able to use your existing gas piping, but there is a chance you will need to increase your gas piping size.
If electric, in most cases you will need to hire an electrician to install substantially larger wiring or upgrade your electrical panel.
Will I save money by changing to tankless?
Yes, but there is a higher initial up front cost for the unit.
Which tankless unit is best – electric or gas?
L.P. and Natural Gas units are more efficient.
What information will I need off my old water heater to receive an approximate cost of replacement?
If electric, the voltage. If gas, what type(L.P. or Natural), the location of your water heater, the height, width and gallon capacity of the tank.
Why does it take so long for hot water to get to my master bath?
Hot water has a long distance to travel from the heater to the furthest fixture in your house.
How can I get hot water to the furthest fixture faster?
Sun Plumbing can install a Grundfos Comfort Series Recirculating System to your hot water system.
